Our rescued racehorses don’t just find a second chance – They help people find one too.

At Racehorse Rescue Centre, suitable rescued horses may take part in supervised educational, practical and community activities. RRC provides the facilities, horses and supportive rural environment where participants can work towards confidence, practical skills and social connection. Our team can explain which current activity may suit an enquiry.

Equine Assisted Learning uses structured interaction with horses to work towards clear, practical personal goals. Activities are planned around the participant and delivered in a safe, supervised environment. They do not replace medical or mental-health treatment, and we can signpost people to appropriate professionals and services where needed.

Work Placement

Looking for practical work experience, or supporting someone who is? RRC offers supervised placements in areas such as painting, building, landscaping, IT, marketing, media and administration, subject to current projects and availability. Placements provide useful hands-on experience in a working charity environment. Free onsite accommodation may be available and must be arranged in advance.

Equine-Assisted Activities

RRC provides the facilities, rescued horses and calm rural environment for supervised equine-assisted and wellbeing activities. These may support confidence, communication and social connection, with appropriate professionals or partner organisations involved where required. RRC does not diagnose conditions or provide clinical treatment. We can discuss suitability, support needs and availability, seek guidance from suitably qualified volunteers where appropriate, and signpost to other services.

Bullying

Bullying can affect children, young people and adults at school, at work or elsewhere. Our selected free sessions provide a calm setting to spend time around rescued horses and build confidence. Feeling isolated or overwhelmed?

Spending time in peaceful surroundings with rescued racehorses, other animals and nature can provide a welcome break from everyday pressures. RRC provides the facilities and supportive rural environment for supervised activities that can encourage confidence, routine and social connection. We do not diagnose or provide clinical mental-health treatment. Where someone may need additional support, we can signpost them to their GP, NHS services or other appropriate professionals and specialist organisations.

Education

RRC provides practical, non-accredited horse-care and stable-management learning in a safe, insured environment. Our facilities can accommodate groups of up to 22 students and two tutors, subject to suitability and availability. Tutors should contact us before booking to discuss group needs, supervision, accessibility and accommodation.

Course Information

Veterans

RRC makes its facilities available free of charge for suitable programmes supporting veterans, including people living with PTSD, physical injuries or the challenges of returning to civilian life. Our role is to provide a peaceful rural environment, rescued horses and supervised practical activities. These do not replace medical or mental-health care. Please tell us about support or accessibility needs when enquiring so we can consider suitability and signpost where appropriate.

EMS Student Placement

EMS and work placements are available for students on relevant veterinary and equine courses, subject to suitability and availability. Students can gain practical experience around rescued racehorses in a working charity environment. Free onsite accommodation may be available for students travelling from elsewhere in the UK or overseas and must be confirmed before making travel plans.

Support for Young People

RRC provides calm, supervised activities for young people experiencing low confidence, emotional difficulties or the effects of self-harm. We provide facilities and a supportive environment, not crisis intervention, diagnosis or clinical treatment. We can discuss suitability confidentially and signpost families or referring professionals to appropriate services. For urgent mental-health help, call NHS 111.
